Continually Praising - Psalm 34:1-3

“I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together!”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭34:1-3‬ ‭

Have you ever thought that you physically cannot say more than one word at one short point of time? While I can certainly put two words together to make one, I cannot say both words at the same time.

In the same way, blessing and praising the Lord continually with our mouths will not allow for other kinds of words to flow out. We cannot praise God and slander our sister in the same utterance. Or sing praises and complain about circumstances in the same chord.

Certainly it is known we are capable of both things at different times. Of course there are plenty of sins of the tongue in which I all too often confess and repent of to the Lord or my loved ones.

Let our souls be humble and boast in the Lord instead of ourselves and watch the dissatisfaction dissolve.

Praise the Lord together with others, in songs and Spirit-filled discussions and watch the desire to gossip become non-existent.

Listen to the teachings of Christ and exalt Him instead of ourselves and feel peace with any circumstance.

If you have a hard time controlling your tongue, praise Him continually and you’ll find that you have no desire to say anything else.
