Never Thirst Again.

In this beautiful life of seasons where the ups and downs come and go, so will people. The tide rises and falls. The storms blow and subside. The relationships that are mingled in between the whimsical harmony of it all are as much as the part of life as the elements themselves. Yes, but more significant. People are most significant to the Lord. Each of our hearts are wired to love, to feel, to dream, to envision, to be loved, to have ideas, to have wishes, to have ideals, to be interwoven.

Because each person is wired with this natural desire to love and be loved, we seek out for something to fill those roles. Some things can take up more space than others. When that runs dry, we look again. We find. We feel filled again. We feel empty. Repeat this process. This can be with people, places, things, or ideas.

For one woman, long ago, it was a satisfying marriage she was seeking. No one lived up.

Until she met Jesus.

She was a Samaritan who was a natural enemy of the Jewish people. She was a sinful, broken woman according to Jewish law. Bridging the gap, Christ pursued her and had a divine appointment with her on a hot day.

Because He is also God, all-knowing, in the flesh, He knew her whole story and provided the Gospel message that would finally satisfy her for the rest of her life. The Living Water!

Are we allowing Christ to fully satisfy our every need? Or do we keep chasing pleasure in other avenues? Let us not forsake the Lord!

“Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.” John 4:34 ESV

“for my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns that can hold no water.”

Jeremiah 2:13 ESV

What cisterns are you pressing your lips to over and over to find comfort and satisfaction? Is it friends (that let you down), a substance (that runs dry), a family (that will be draining at times), materials (that will leave you broke with problems)?

When you press your lips to that water for satisfaction, set it down. Pick up your Bible instead and set your roots deep into the Living Water.
